Faith Promise Mission

What is Faith Promise?

1.   It is giving above and beyond your tithe and offering to Centerville United Methodist.  For that reason, it is sometimes referred to as “second
      mile giving.
2.   It is strictly between you & God.  If you decide you cannot give as you promised then you tell God alone.  Only He and you will know.
3.   It is waiting before the Lord for His instructions as to what He wants you to give in reaching the world with the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ.
4.   It must be carried on by faith that God will supply for other things which arise as you proceed in giving what you promised Him.
      (II Cor. 9:7-8)

What Faith Promise is NOT:

1.    It is not a pledge to the church!  You sign NOTHING!  No one but God knows what you promised.
2.    It is not something that someone will call on you to collect.
3.    It is not ever to be taken away from your tithes & offerings.

A video on Faith Promise

This video presentation clearly defines through great visuals what Faith Promise is all about and provides suggestions to help us reach our Faith Promise goals for this year.

We encourage All to take a few minutes to listen and enjoy this presentation as we remind everyone that through this mission, we as the congregation of Centerville United Methodist Church and our vast supporters, we have been able to fulfill so many needs both locally and abroad following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ.

                                                                                                       Faith Promise 2019-2020

Since our Monthly Food Ministry began back in September of 2017, Centerville United Methodist Church has given away 42,101 pounds of food to families in the greater Centerville area. This does not count the many pounds of food given out through our “On Demand” Food Pantry that is run through the annex. We give God thanks and glory for making Centerville United Methodist Church an “oasis” in the midst of this “food desert.”  We need to keep both our Food Ministries in prayer.  And, please remember your Faith Promise donations.  With our expanded food pantry in full swing, every dollar is extremely important.  Remember that our food pantries are only two of the many ministries we support with our Faith Promise dollars.  Where do your Faith Promise dollars go?  A 2019-20 Faith Promise budget follows:

Wings of the Morning Mission

Picture
The United Methodist Church supports an aviation ministry, “Wings of the Morning”, in an area of Africa where 6 million people live with no roads for transportation. Hope comes in the form of a small airplane and a pilot who evacuates critically ill and injured villagers to health care facilities, and flies in medical supplies, bibles, payrolls, pastors, and mission teams.

Wings of the Morning provides...

  • The gift of life to those who are critically ill or injured.
  • The gift of eternal life by bringing Bibles, pastors, and new church starts to remote areas of North Katanga.
  • Successful campaign for a new plane: A fundraising campaign begun in June 2010, raised about $2.1 million for the new plane and exceeded its original goal by a half-million dollars. Kevin Bowers, a former member of CUMC and son of Dave and Pat Bowers, was instrumental in procurring these funds.  In late 2012, after the year-long fundraising campaign the desperately needed new Cessna plane was purchased for the ministry with the money raised.  Centerville United Methodist Church and the church youth were faithful contributors to this project.

Youth Mission Projects

Centerville United Methodist Church continues to engage both the Children's and Youth Ministries in special projects actively working to transform the world as disciples of Jesus Christ. Thank you to all our children and youth for helping make dreams come true for so many.

Valentine Dinner Mission Report

Thank you to all who supported the Valentine's Day Dinner put on by the youth. We hope you enjoyed the dinner and program.

Thank you to all who supported the Valentine Dinner put on by the children and youth of Centerville United Methodist Church.  We appreciate the donations of food for the dinner and your monetary donations.  Thanks to Texas Roadhouse for their delicious rolls.
With the help of generous donors, the children and youth raised a record amount of $3,401 to support missions.  The money will go to the following mission projects:
1. Through Love a Child, we are sponsoring a Mobile Medical Clinic in Haiti.  This clinic provides medical care to those who live in the more remote areas of Haiti and do not have access to medical care.
2. Through Love A Child, we will also provide sponsorship for two students. This support provides food, clothing, health care and an education.
3. Through World Vision, we are providing the following animals to help families in underdeveloped countries:
A pig - One healthy sow can produce many piglets which grow quickly and can be sold at the market to provide an income for a family.
A goat – Goats milk provides great protein to help children grow. The family can sell surplus milk, cheese and yogurt to earn money for necessities.
A donkey – A donkey is reliable and hardy. It can help transport produce, firewood, or other goods to market.  It can also provide transportation for a sick child to a distant clinic.
4.  In many of the world’s poorest places, children have to walk miles every day to get water that is often dirty and unsafe. Through World Vision Clean Water Project, we are providing:
A water purifier for a family to make clean safe water accessible to bridge the gap until a permanent safe water supply is available.
Foot pump – This ingenious yet simple water pump is a miracle for farmers who once had to irrigate their crops by carrying buckets back and forth.  It provides an efficient supply of water so families can grow more food year-round.
Donation to Clean Water Fund - to help fund the digging or drilling of wells to serve many with a safe water supply.
5.  Shunga Medical Clinic – This is a United Methodist Global Outreach program in the Congo.  We are donating funds toward the purchase of some much needed medical equipment.
6.  Crossroads Recovery Center - We sent a monetary gift to the Crossroads Recovery Center in Richmond to help women who are trying to overcome addictions.
THANK YOU to all for your generous support to help us show the love of Jesus through these projects.
